No objection (tree works in Con Areas), 2017-02-02 · London Borough of Croydon · 16/06167/CAT - The Parochial Church Council (PCC) of St. John the Evangelist, Sylvan Road London SE19 2RX proposes to carry out work on two mounds located on Church property adjoining Sylvan Road. Northern Mound ------------------------- It is proposed to level the northern mound and re-landscape the area to the benefit of the Church itself and the wider community. The improvement works and levelling of the mound will require the removal of 11 likely all self-sown-trees of different species (including Oak, Holly, Ash, Hawthorn, Sycamore) and ages (predominantly semi-mature). The trees are not high quality. Scrub clearance will also be required, removing what ground cover there is as well as number of seedlings. The Holly Hedge running alongside the road will also be removed. The area will be re-landscaped with grass and shrubs as appropriate to a design to be agreed with the Arboriculture & Landscape Adviser to the Southwark Diocesan Advisory Committee. Southern Mound The southern mounds contains two mature Oak Trees which are subject to a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) No. 19/2015. The PCC proposes to remove all scrub, seedlings and ground cover, as well as the Holly Hedge, whilst protecting the two protected Oaks. Necessary steps will be taken to protect the Oak Trees during the re-landscaping works.
